Our Craziest Adventure Yet

In This Week’s Post

  • How you can support us

Hello My name is…

Hello! My name is Amanda. My husband Jesse and my toddler David and I are only two weeks away from our craziest adventure yet, a two and half month long mission trip to Honduras! Wild!

Jesse and I have been going on mission trips for 8 years now. In fact, I’ve been on 10 international mission trips. We firmly believe in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), going anywhere and everywhere He sends us. Even with that in mind, I would have never expected to be heading down to Santa Ana, Honduras with a toddler in tow. But here we are! So, what are we even doing and who are we even going to be working with?

Discipleship through healthcare

While we’re in Honduras, we’ll be working with Clinica de Esperanza.

“Clinica de Esperanza participates in God’s transformative work by providing high-quality healthcare services and discipleship to impoverished communities in central Honduras.”

Clinica de Esperanza

I truly love Clinica de Esperanza. I had a chance to visit in 2023 (while I was 16 weeks pregnant). Even though I was behind the camera, I was able to see and participate in so many amazing things.

We spent time in schools offering medical exams to the students. These exams are crucial for the health of the students. The medical staff was able to identify some pretty nasty underlying medical issues and help those students seek more specialized care.

We also spent time in remote, mountain villages where medical care and medicine is less prevalent. Once again, I was blown away by how the Clinic’s care and attention to these individuals allowed them to receive the care they needed. In the area we visited, villagers often went months or even years without medicines needed to improve their quality of life. The clinic freely provided everything they needed to feel healthier.

At the time, I was only a short term missionary, joining the team for 9 short days. The Clinic does this year round. Every year they see about 13,000 patients.

But they don’t stop with just providing medical care, they also provide the Gospel. They offer Bible studies at the clinic while patients wait for the doctors, they offer prayer during every medical brigade, and offer a chance for those who accept Jesus to grow deeper with their Seeker Referral Program. Essentially, this program gives new christians tools and resources to help them continue with discipleship whether one-on-one or in a church setting.

With all of that in mind, what the heck are we even doing in Honduras for two and half months if we don’t have any medical training?

Our mission in Honduras

As stated above, we are not medical professionals. So while we plan on helping out the Clinic, we are more focused on discipleship.

What is discipleship anyway? We define discipleship as the learned discipline of Jesus. We want to look and act more like Him. And while we do that, we are also helping teach others how to be more like Christ. With this in mind, my personal work on this trip will be less about the medicine and more about the Great Doctor (Mark 2:17).

We will be helping lead bible studies at the Clinic. We will be leading prayer huddles. We will be building relationships with individuals and local churches. Our goals are simple: meet new people, build trust, introduce Jesus, and help teach others how to teach others. All while filming every story we come across. And I am excited!

I am also very nervous. We have never been on a trip like this before. We’ve never stayed in a space for longer than 10 days. We’ve never been the group leaders.

We’ve also never brought our toddler onto the international mission field. My mama heart is anxious for what that will look like. I have never had to split my time between a mission trip and motherhood before. This trip is going to be more different than any we’ve been on and that’s the scary yet very exciting part. The LORD is going to move in amazing ways this summer and I’m so honored to be a part of it.

So where does that leave us?

Prayer Requests and Current Needs

We are still waiting for a few donations to finalize, but once they do we will be fully funded! We will still leave our donation link active though because anything extra raised will go straight to the clinic.

Now to our needs, we need prayers! Over the last week I have personally been feeling a lot of spiritual push back and it’s weighing on me. We would love prayers for our trip, protection, favor, peace, energy, and for the hearts of those we will have the privilege of serving.

Get Involved

Thank you

Once again I want to thank you all, especially if you read this to the end (gold star for you!). Every prayer, every donation, every kind word has lead us here. I am blown away with the community we have. So thank you all so much. I am so appreciative.
